ABOUT NEXTGEN

NEXTGEN was founded by Chinedu and Ngongo Samuel, motivated by their desire and passion to impact on young and the rural poor. These sets of people are regarded as endangered species as they bear the brunt of misrule and corruption of the elite and ruling class.

INITIATIVE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEXT GENERATION, also known as NEXTGEN for short. NEXTGEN is a development organization. It is a non-government, not-for-profit and non-sectarian, non-partisan organization working for social development and empowerment of vulnerable and less developed people such as widows and orphans in the grassroots/rural communities where the real need is. It is a human-centered NGO. It also focuses on holistic youth development, Besides our projects, programmes and activities, NEXTGEN is an implementing organization which designs and implements various developmental projects with the financial and technical supports of international donor agencies, other NGOs and the government.

CORE PROGRAMS/THEMATIC FOCUS

NEXTGEN has the following six core programs or thematic focuses which helps the

Organization in strategically achieving its mission: 1. Youth, Education and Mentoring (Education, Volunteerism, Counseling, Publications, Role Modeling, Sports, Clubs, Character Development)

2. Sexual & Reproductive Health Issues/HIV/AIDS (Sexual Rights & other Health Issues such as Cancer).

3. Gender Equality & Women/Vulnerable People’s Empowerment (Protection & Cooperative Formation, & Microfinancing)

4. Leadership Development (Democracy and Participation/Leadership Skills Development)

5. Entrepreneurship & Employability Development (Talent, Skills Acquisition & Certification, Agric Dev & Cooperatives Formation/Strengthening)

6. Rural Development, Livelihoods & Mobilization (Peace & Conflict Resolution, Outreaches & Community Advocacy, Meeting Needs)

Our Programs

NEXTGEN’s focus is on the socio-economically disadvantaged groups of women, youth and children. Keeping in view the overall socio-cultural fabric of the society and the overall power imbalances and discriminations that exist at all levels.

Mr Emmanuel Chukwuoma

Chairman of the Board

He holds A Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Imo State University, Owerri. He is a successful business man who worked in the Aviation industry for many years before establishing his business. He is widely travelled. He is the Managing Director of SkyExpress Travels and International ServicesLTD. He finds time to speak to the youths in different fora in areas of Spiritual and Entrepreneurship Development.

Tony N. Oraegbu (Rev)

Vice Chairman of the Board

Rev Tony N. Oraegbu is the founding Pastor of Greenland Rhema Assembly in Benin City -one of the upcoming growing churches. A versatile speaker in Conferences and meetings, Tony has been a resource person on Morning breakfast show “DAYBREAK” of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) and the Radio. His deep insight in spiritual and political matters have blessed and enlightened his listeners.

Barr Innocent O. Ebbih

Member of Secretary of the Board

Barr Innocent Ebbih serves as the secretary to the Board. He is the current chaplain of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd (the University’s Interdenominational Chapel) of the Ambrose Alli University, (AAU) Ekpoma Edo State, Nigeria. He brings his many years of pastoring and dealing with young people in the University. He believes in helping young people find their focus in life.

Sophia OsasumwenOkafor (Mrs)

Member of the Board

Mrs.Okafor is a passionate woman when it comes to youth development. She specializes on the issues of the heart such as Relationship and Emotional traumas. She is a teacher per excellence and has many years experience in teaching French. She is an examiner for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO).

Chinedu is the CEO/National Director of NEXTGEN. He has supervised many successful projects which has made it possible for grant-making organizations to work with the organization. He has presided over the affairs of the Organization for over 12 years now. He is married with a son

Emmanuel N. Evbuomwan

(B.Sc, Banking; B.Sc, Accounting)

Emmanuel serves as the Admin/Account Director of the Organization for over 8 years and counting. He has broad knowledge of project accounting and is passionate for the work he does.

MaryQueen Ekong

(B.Sc, Social Work; M.Sc, Social Work)

MaryQueen is the Gender and Social Inclusion Desk Director and handles Monitoring & Evaluation duties who ensures that the targets and outcomes of all our projects are met. She has served in this capacity for 7 years. .

George O. Omondiagbe

(LL.B; M.Sc, Peace Studies)

George is the Project Director of the organization and has held this capacity for upward of 6 years. George has a knack for details and is a great team-player. He is married.
